Otakon 2013: Day 3

There aren't too many pictures that I took for the last day. We were really trying to get people to buy as much of our stuff as we could. Got to get those last day sales in. Also, I had overslept so I got there late and didn't have that much time to get pictures. Here are the few I did manage to snag.

Black Ninja Ranger and Battle Zord - Power Rangers

On my way into the convention center I saw this awesomeness before me and had to take a picture even though I was already late because, ya know, priorities. I don't know what the Battle Zord was made out of. It wasn't cardboard, it looked too well made for that, but it couldn't have been too heavy since there was a person inside it. I think part of it may have been Styrofoam.

Sasha Braus - Attack on Titan

I don't know much about this character except that she has swords she sticks into the toasters on her hips and eats copious amounts of bread. Either way I really liked these costumes, they were so neat looking.

Harley Quinn - Batman

Peter Pan and a Lost Boy

These two were just too cute. Apparently they had two other Lost Boys with them but they, erm, lost them.

Princess Tiger Lilly

I did happen to catch their friend Princess Tiger Lilly, unfortunately the aforementioned Lost Boys slipped by me again. Those Lost Boys are so sneaky!

Doodlebob - SpongeBob

This I took mainly for my sister who was immediately texted the picture with the title, 'Walk into the convention like me hoy minoy me hoy!' In fact I had trouble catching up to Doodlebob at first and almost yelled that last bit out to get their attention.

Deadpool - X Men

I think our Deadpool here has taken a lesson from the David Bowie Codpiece. Oh my. Despite the plethora of Deadpools at the convention, it was somewhat difficult to catch a picture of one.

A Girl With A Pearl Earring - Painting by Johannes Vermeer

A literal walking work of art. I absolutely love it.

Disguised Cloud - Final Fantasy VII

It's obvious that not only did Cloud pick the cotton dress, but also the sexy cologne. If I allowed myself to post emoticons on this blog there would be one of me laughing right here.

And that concludes the pictures. Please visit the album to see the rest.

Otakon 2013: Day 2

Here are some more favorites for Saturday.

Naked Sims

Somebody get some clothes on those sims before Mrs.Crumplebottom finds out!

Bilbo Baggins - The Hobbit

I didn't get her feet in the picture, but she had the softest looking hair glued on and was walking around barefoot. Her feet were so cute! Also, the paper she's holding went on for about another foot or so in front of her on the ground. It's the actual contract the dwarves had Bilbo sign.

While I was interacting with customers, I heard some very familiar whistling. I whirled around to where it was coming from and said, "Is that C3PO I hear?" (Facepalm. Palm it. Palm the face.)

I opted for a video because he was moving too quickly for a photo. Apparently a moving R2D2 is a fire hazard, but a girl with lighters taped to her head isn't (I forgot what character she was and didn't get a picture). You figure that one out.

Kyary Pomyu Pomyu

Midna - Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Flo

I was so happy to get this picture seeing as my friend had seen her five times and somehow I kept missing her. It is strange and obscene how much of a fangirl I am for a mascot of an insurance agency I'm not even a client of. I would seriously geek if I got to meet the actual actress face to face. I just really like Flo. She seems like she'd be a really fun person to go on a date with. You would never get bored. And I think she's silly.

Sailor Neptune - Sailor Moon

I love the Sailor Moon tattoo she has on her knee.

Eternal Sailor Moon - Sailor Moon Sailor Stars

It took me a while to figure out what this cosplay was. At first I kept thinking she was just a sexy version of Eternal Sailor Moon. Then I realized she's supposed to be in the middle of her transformation when those weird ribbons start to make up her clothing. Very creative.

Female Crow - The Crow

Buildings burn, people die, but the love I have for Eric Draven cosplayers is forever.

I saw this guy walking around Otakon, dressed as Marshall Lee from Adventure Time, strumming his guitar. I fought the urge to shout out 'Freebird!' and out myself as Otakon's biggest asshole and instead asked him if he knew Jason Mraz's I'm Yours. And yes, that is my happy squeal when he started singing.

I'm sorry if it's hard to hear him above the convention chatter. Tymm Holland, also known as Phyre, was one of the artists at Artists Alley and can sing louder than that as proof in his Youtube videos. I think he had a sore throat that day.

He's also on instagram @Phyre1219 where he posts, among other things, photos of the tattoos he's done at his shop.

Ulala - Space Channel 5

Generic Zombie

I just had to take a picture of this guy's make up. It was just impressive. If I recall correctly he used tissue paper and some sort of liquid latex or sealant.

Silent Bob - Clerks

He didn't talk to anyone. I love cosplayers that stay in character.

The Birds of War, Desert Rose, and The Trashman - It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

I'm slightly sad that they didn't have a Rickety Cricket dressed as a terrorist in their group as well.

And that's the end of the pictures. Please visit my album on Imgur for the rest of them.

Otakon 2013: Day 1

I have not been dicking off and neglecting this blog. I went to Otakon, which is different because I actually had work to do there. Kind of. ...Ok, I've kind of have been dicking off as well.

My friend JessJess from Jessie and JessJess Creatioins secured a booth (and she did fabulously!). A big serious thank you to all of the otakus who bought stuff from her or took away business cards. And while I'm at it another thank you to the people who let me take their pictures to share with everyone. .

I didn't really do much at Otakon sadly enough. I was having ankle issues and Saturday I was very sleep deprived after coming off an overnight shift and only getting 45 minutes to nap. So the usual bullshit. I was also there to help JessJess first and foremost, so that was my bigger priority. I felt guilty leaving the booth even if I wasn't being wonky or an awkward helper.

Although I didn't go to any of the fun sounding panels, I did take tons of pictures of cosplayers. There were so many amazing costumes that, unfortunately, I didn't get to take pictures of because I'm awkward as hell and afraid of approaching people. But to those I did approach, you're awesome. I'm also sorry if I made you repeat things to me and will apologize in advance for any characters I got wrong, even though some of you probably told me at least two to three times who you were supposed to be. I have some sort of stuffy ear problem and have been having trouble hearing, especially with all the convention chatter

I was originally going to post all of the pictures on the blog and divide them into three posts for each day with a fourth post devoted to some of the sellers. But seeing as I took almost 70 pictures in total, there's no way that's happening. My friends said it would be easier to just pick some of my favorites and then give a link to an online gallery. So I will do just that (this is probably what I should have been doing for when I took an obnoxious amount of photos at the Festival of Trees. Instead I chose to fight with blog formatting. Hmmm....hind sight).

Enough with introductory paragraphs, away we go:

Castiel from Supernatural

I had to take their picture because my friend loves Supernatural, and the cosplayer scared the crap out of me.

I was sitting at our table waving hi to various people, trying to be a good seller and engage the customer, when I saw this person. At first I thought they were dressed like the Doctor because I am eternally under a rock when it comes to modern pop culture and certain fandoms. Even if I'm caught up I have a shitty memory so the point is somewhat moot.

I waved hi to them and they stood there all serious faced and said:
Castiel: Jesus loves you.
Me: Oh. Alright. Th-thank you.
C: I am the angel of the Lord.
*Looking around for help*
Internal Monologue: Oh c'mon man. Otakon is supposed to be my safe space! Whyyy. Is anyone seeing this? Can someone tell me if this is a really good cosplayer staying in character, or am I about to get shivved? I mean, that's just Baltimore courtesy. I'd tell one of you guys if you were talking to a hobo and his stabbin' hand was getting twitchy.
M: ....Alright.
C: No, literally. I'm Castiel from Supernatural.

I then thanked all the Gods I've ever prayed to...even Jesus who apparently loves me.

And no, I don't think my internal monologue was overreacting. As I've said before, and continue to maintain, I am flypaper for crazy people. They will somehow suss me out wherever I go. Doesn't matter if I'm minding my own business at a Barnes and Noble, or walking to my car after work, there they are (those links are just to two instances. Do not be tricked into thinking they are the only two).

However Jacque is not a crazy person (not that I know of at least), they are a tumblrer, photographer, and quite nice. His tumblr does have some funny stuff even if you're not into the Doctor Who or Supernatural fandoms. So follow or at least visit. Meanwhile I will be giving into peer pressure and will start watching Supernatural. This way I will be less confused at any other cons I chance to go to. Also, my friends won't stop asking me to watch it.

Rogue from X Men

Hello Kitty Lady Gaga

Little Red Riding-stuck

I've only ever heard of Homestuck, never read it before, but this cosplay was so cute I had to get a picture. There were a lot of Homestuck costumes that I saw actually. I would have taken pics of all of them if I could have. They were all really interesting and well done. To be quite honest, I am going to start reading it (or I guess playing it? It seems more like a weird game than an actual comic strip) because the costumes were so neat looking. I forgot to ask her her character's name so I have dubbed her Little Red Riding-stuck for now. But I know I gave her my blog address so, if you're reading this Riding-stuck, let me know your character's name and I shall edit it if you like.

Poison Ivy from Batman

I really tried to get her shoes in the picture. They were so cute!

The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland

The Queen of Hearts, only with the Maryland flag colors. Love it!

Slave Leia from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

Velma from Scooby Doo

I could not get over her adorable facial expressions when she posed.

A very interesting cosplay.

I have no clue what anime this is from, I just really liked her costume. The picture is not doing quite enough justice to the awesome, bloody mouth on her neck. I thought she had said 'Femme Leviathan Cast', but a search brings up pictures of females crossplaying as some sort of evil Castiel from Supernatural. The only other guess I have is from the anime Zettai Bouei Leviathan mixed with the movie Leviathan by George P. Cosmatos. If someone could help me out with this I'd appreciate it.

And to the cosplayer, I am very sorry, I know you repeated yourself twice to me. As I mentioned before, hearing problems. If you find this blog please do not get angry.

Parappa the Rapper

I had Master Onion's rap stuck in my head for so long after this.

And now so do you.

That's the end of day one. Don't forget to visit the gallery to see all the others. Especially the last Homestuck one (I told you they were really interesting).

Day two comes next!

Spin-offs We'd Like To See

Well I haven't written in a while on here, but I'm really tired so I think a piece of fluff is in order.

Taking from the last blog post about the fictional character bucket list, I thought I'd do a post about spin offs I'd like to see. It's a very short list because, to be quite honest, I couldn't really think of many characters that haven't had their own spin-offs or at least their 'day in the sun' on their own shows. Especially if you have a show that's gone on for a long time there's a big chance that every character has had at least one episode dedicated to them and their background at some point. Or in some cases a spin-off or a bunch of tie in stuff dedicated to said character.

I've also been having a lot of brain farts lately as well, so please excuse me.

1. Spike from Buffy

I know he was a main character on the show that was a spin-off, Angel, but I love Spike so much. He's so adorable with his cheekbones that can double as bladed weapons, and his British accent which might not be British because I've forgotten where his character is from but it's close enough. I would be completely fine if there was no Angel spin off and it was all about Spike somehow. Although I'd be admittedly very sad about no Lorne.

And now I'm getting images in my head of Lorne and Spike as a duo in some weird buddy cop show. ...Which is kind of what happens in Angel. Well look at that, full circle.

2.Piccolo from Dragon Ball Z

I don't know, I just like Nameks.

3. The Devil from Brimstone

Brimstone was a show in the late 90's that was about a Detective named Ezekiel Stone who killed his wife's rapist and then died. A bunch of souls rebel in Hell and escape. The Devil sends Stone up to earth to kill them and return them to Hell. If he does he can have a second chance at life.

The show only lasted a season then never got picked up by anywhere else, so there are a lot of undone things that never got to come to fruition and might have.

Maybe not a spin-off, but I would have actually really liked to have seen an episode that didn't focus on Det.Stone and instead delved into the Brimstone universe's version of Hell and what actually went on down there. Basically a day in the Devil's shoes. Or maybe some sort of flashback that shows exactly how 113 souls escape Hell. I'm pretty sure you could fill a half hour episode with that. And maybe the writers were possibly going to do just that in the future. Guess we'll never know.

4. The Rad Vampire DJ from Buffy

I'm talking about the movie featuring Kristy Swanson from the early 90's. When the vampires attack the school there's one lone vampire that takes up the DJ duties from said now dead DJ. I don't want a spin-off or anything like that but like another vampire from that movie, Amilyn, I just want to know his background more.

Who are you Rad Vampire DJ? What was your life before you were turned? Who turned you? Why aren't you killing people with the rest of the vampires? Were you going to but you were just overtaken by the power of the music? Will you DJ my next party? You look like you know how to have fun.

5.Lude and LeRoy Gomm from Nightbreed

Nightbreed is a comic based off a movie of the same name based off a book called Cabal by Clive Barker. Even though I have some issues with the comic itself, I still love it. There's only 25 issues in all (along with a 2 part Hellraiser/Nightbreed crossover), or at least 25 written before it got canceled and Clive moved on. I think Nightbreed may be one of my favorite horror movies/books/comics.

Lude is a black satyr like creature. LeRoy Gomm is a fat dude with pet leeches and weird barbed tentacles that come out of his stomach. That and the fact that they're friends is pretty much all we know about them. From what little I've seen and heard of them they're a great duet. It would have been nice to get more background on them. I have read some bio stuff online, but I'm really not sure that it's actual canon instead of just head canon.

What are some characters that you would like to see spin-offs for? Or even just more information on in general?
